Geoffrey Lane graduated in Sydney and travelled to Perth after his internship. He completed his local post-graduate training in Cardiology at Royal Perth and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospitals. His overseas post graduate experience included two years at the Post Graduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London and four years in South Africa at the Groote Schuur Hospital, Capetown. He returned to Western Australia in 1976 to establish the Department of Cardiology at Fremantle Hospital and has seen the unit grow into one of the major centres for cardiovascular training and research in the state. Dr Lane is a partner in WA Cardiology. He offers cardiological consultation at Murdoch, Geraldton, Narrogin and the Kimberley. His main interests include the management of acute and chronic ischaemic heart disease and the management of cardiac failure. He has a particular interest and involvement in the co-ordination of international cardiovascular trials at Fremantle Hospital and St John of God Hospital Murdoch. He is the Chairman of the Fremantle Hospital Research Foundation's Scientific Advisory Committee and is on the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Nation Heart Foundation (WA branch). Dr Lane is also on the Medical Advisory Committee for St John of God Hospital Murdoch and is a patron of the Fremantle Heart Patients Support Group. |
